I have 3 avulsion fractures of the right talus. I am seeing a foot doctor. He has put me in a boot cast (brace)and I have had to use crutches for the past months.

One says the pain could be coming from the lower back and the DPM says it could be CRPS. They both did say PF could be a possibility but nothing was working,like the ice,anti-inflammatory med,rest and pt.
recently developed a pain on the left side of my left foot, below the ankle and spanning from just before the heel, and back to a few inches before the 'pinky' toe. the area is swollen and somewhat bruised in apearance. Pain is only felt when pressure is applied. Walking on my toes is a lot better but still difficult.

Under normal circumstances a clean fracture without too much space between the bones in a healthy individual can take 6-8 weeks to heal. Immobilization through the use of the boot is the standard treatment.
Today is 7 weeks since acute injury diagnosed as a Jones fracture of my left foot. Initially I had a slab cast on, then aircast but couldn't sleep at night with it on (too bulky) and too uncomfortable without it, even if wrapped in a tensor, so...had fiberglass cast for three weeks.

I broke my toe several months ago, pinky toe, by stubbing it. I buddy taped it, but it never seemed to heal correctly. I finally went to a podiatrist, but it doesn't work. Any suggestion?
Lacrosse is a rough game and your child will have to be careful with his toe. I would think taping the toe would be a good idea when he plays in an effort to give him a little more stability.
Go get an x-ray to rule out a stress fracture. If there is no fracture then apparently you strained your foot while walking all day and that should respond to some immobilization and anti-inflammatory medication (if you can tolerate that type of medication).

If you are concerned about the isotopes then an MRI would be a better option as there is nothing taken internally for that test, plus an MRI will also demonstrate any soft tissue damage that may be causing your pain while a bone scan will not.
Well im a 17 year old male and i was playing basketball one day. i jumped up for a rebound and when i cam down i fell directly on the right side on my foot where thats little ball is at. so the bottom of my foot was facing inwards. after i iced it right away for about 24 hours. the first and second day i stayed off it. then the third day i walked around with a limp and it was swollen on the side and on the top of my foot pretty bad.
As far as the discoloration goes that seems to be more a venous return problem possibly from a cast that was on too tight. He has problems here and they need to be addressed with more than Metanx.
Do not be intimidated by your doctor; they are not flawless and in some cases are quite clueless. Demand to either speak to him or her directly or have one of the staff members relay your concerns to the doctor.

I am recovering from a tri malleor fracture to the left ankle I sustained a year ago after falling on black ice. One year on I visited a house doctor re removal of plate and pins as they have all worked loose. He pointed out to a student that the reason the surgeon put a screw on a pin originally (he also said the screw was off the pin)was because I had soft bones and a tendency to have osteoporosis.
